Derek and Susan put me to sleep!
I eagerly anticipated this event for months. I postponed my vacation by 2 days to attend it on a Sunday night. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the show. Despite my admiration for ABB, Mule, North Mississippi Allstars, etc., I felt that Derek focused too much on his spacey jazz music. This is the same feeling I've had the last 3 times I've seen Derek. I was hoping that with Susan, the show would be more energetic. They kicked off strongly with the first song, but then Derek indulged in a 5-minute riff that made me doze off. They should have maintained a lively tempo. The night did not get any better from my perspective!
A few nights later, I attended Tom Principato's show and couldn't help but wonder why this talented musician remains undiscovered. He would outshine Dimond Saints on stage.
